So, since we're back at the beginning of the story, let me show you what we were dealing with. These photos were taken the day we visited the apartment for the first time, with only a camera and tape measure in hand.
Some basic facts to get us started: on the day of the visit, the apartment measured 52 m2, and was composed of 3 bedrooms, a living room, kitchen diner and bathroom. Now, when I say 3 bedrooms I mean 1 'real' bedroom (see photo on right) and 2 mini bedrooms, both with a ceiling height of 1m 60cm. These bedrooms were separate, but both located on the mezzanine level, one above the kitchen diner and the other above the bedroom (and in case you were wondering, were at the time inhabited by children small enough not to hit their heads off the ceiling).
Now the bathroom ... the room which scared me the most on the day of the visit.
While a good enough size, it was in desperate need of remodelling. The mould on the walls, avocado bathroom suite and matching dolphin shower curtain would have to go.
